MS Read-a-thon

The MS Read-a-thon reading month begins this week! Help cure Multiple Sclerosis simply by reading! Collect sponsors and read as many minutes as you can throughout the month of April. It's that easy! You will receive a sponsor list envelop from your teacher. Take it home and let your family and friends know that you want to help in finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Be sure to also record the number of minutes you read each day as there will be a CLASS PRIZE and a prize for the TOP THREE READERS IN THE SCHOOL! Listen to upcoming announcements for more information about Multiple Sclerosis and important dates during the Read-a-thon.

Things to Know about MS and the MS Society

1) Multiple Sclerosis means "many scars". These scars will block messages the brain sends to other parts of the body.

2) People older than 15 and younger than 40 can get Multiple Sclerosis.

3) About 55,000 to 75,000 Canadians have MS.

4) Researchers do not know, as of yet, what causes MS.

5) Symptoms of MS may include double or blurred vision; extreme fatigue; loss of balance; problems with coordination; stiffness of muscles; speech problems; short-term memory problems, and even partial or complete paralysis.

You can find out more information at www.msreadathon.com. Happy Reading!

  1. That's a lot of cool facts Ms.Friesen and I want to do anything to help find a cure to MS. Is there any exact date we start recording our reading?

  3. Ms. Friesen,
I think the Read-a-thon is a great idea since we are raising money as well as reading. Ms. Friesen I just have a question. What if we are done our sheet before April 24th? Do we record our sponsors and money and the minutes we read in another sheet of paper.
