April Movie Night

That's right, we will be having another Movie Night on Tuesday, April 21st in the Library starting at 3:20 sharp. This month we will be featuring the movie "Prince Caspian" from the Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis. C.S. Lewis was an Irish novelist and very close friend to Lord of the Rings writer J.R.R Tolkien. Lewis wrote "Prince Caspian" in late 1949 and it was first published in 1951. In "Prince Caspian," we find Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy returning to Narnia where they once ruled as kings and queens. Only this time, Narnia has
changed - 1,300 years have passed and Narnia is not the kingdom they once ruled.

Join us for this action packed adventure back into Narnia!

MS Read-a-thon

The MS Read-a-thon reading month begins this week! Help cure Multiple Sclerosis simply by reading! Collect sponsors and read as many minutes as you can throughout the month of April. It's that easy! You will receive a sponsor list envelop from your teacher. Take it home and let your family and friends know that you want to help in finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Be sure to also record the number of minutes you read each day as there will be a CLASS PRIZE and a prize for the TOP THREE READERS IN THE SCHOOL! Listen to upcoming announcements for more information about Multiple Sclerosis and important dates during the Read-a-thon.

Things to Know about MS and the MS Society

2) People older than 15 and younger than 40 can get Multiple Sclerosis.

3) About 55,000 to 75,000 Canadians have MS.

4) Researchers do not know, as of yet, what causes MS.

5) Symptoms of MS may include double or blurred vision; extreme fatigue; loss of balance; problems with coordination; stiffness of muscles; speech problems; short-term memory problems, and even partial or complete paralysis.

Pop In a Book

Join us in the library after school for a movie. Over the next few weeks, we will be watching books turned into movies. Movie time starts right at 3:15 and ends at 4:30. If you want to join us, see Ms. Friesen and sign up today. Space is limited! Our first movie will be "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", starring Brendan Fraser, on Wednesday, March 11th.

This movie is based on the Science Fiction/Fantasy classic book written by Jules Verne in 1864. Both movie and book are action packed and sure to keep the adventure seeker on the edge of their seat. Check out the video clip below for a sneak peak.
